Mario Valentino

In 1952 the company named after his family, which was established by Mario Valentino himself. The original developer of this company was started by his father Vincenzo Valentino. Who also specialized in the haute couture shoe in 1910. Ever since then the company proved to be very successful with in their home country. By the time when Mario Valentino took control of the company they were doing business out side of Italy. His most famous work is on display at the Bally Museum of a sandal made of coral. By 1956 he had a shoe-manufacturing company in Naples and a large number of shops around the world. The collections drawn by Mario Valentino himself were characterized as the modern innovative style that all could love. He even brought the attention of a couple socialites like, Sophia Loren, Ava Gardner, and Jacqueline Onassis.

In the 60?s Mario Valentino moved up into a larger scale of production and the addition to the main line. Bags were just as big as shoes were; this opened a new market for leather piece goods. Almost by the 1970?s Mario Valentino was so large and such a success the other designers helped contribute to the Mario Valentino name. Such as a great group like Giorgio Armani, Gianni Versace, Karl Lagerfeld, and Claude Montana. With all their help by the 1980?s Mario Valentino as a company reached it?s greatest growth, and the marketing in the east was the greatest. Through this time period the company of Mario Valentino was known world wide and into a multi-million dollar company. But good times did not last.

The 90?s were tough for the great company causing them to renovate itself. But still maintaing the high price, and high image. But like all companies during this time period had to re-organize for the ever-changing world. Consumers are doing different things causing all designers to re-organize their business internally and externally. Today the company can be found in licensing their name out. More advailablity of other products, and this is helping expand and spread their company?s fortune over a variety of different products. It is now the year of 2000 and its time to see if Valentino can last through the new era of design. Where new fabrics not just leather are key. How does a company that lasts this long in fashion have hopes to compete with new and innovative young designers? And how can Mario Valentino keep up to separate itself form other today designers? Only time will tell, In which time is the fire we burn. Time can work for you and a lot of the time work against you. In this case this company has almost been around for a hundred years. For this I am happy to support and write about a name that will hopefully live forever against the tale of time.
