- The problem of violence in schools today is a major concern. Crime in and around schools threatens the well being of students, as well as the school staff and the surrounding communities. It also holds back learning and student achievement. The problem is more defined in the public school system than in catholic schools.
- On January 18, 1993, Scott Pennington, a seventeen year-old student from Kentucky, shot and killed his East Carter High School teacher Deanna McDavid and janitor Marvin Hicks, and then held his twenty-two classmates at gunpoint for about fifteen minutes.
- For many years there has been an increase in the cases of violence in schools. Violence, in itself, has been a problem plaguing schools and just recently has it taken deadly actions. But what causes these outbreaks of aggression and hatred to occur? Is it the community where the school is or peers that children come in contact with? Some factors that might contribute to violence in schools is the family influence, society?s shortcomings, the media and drugs.
- Violence in schools has spread widely throughout the nation. This has caused many problems among students, families, faculty of schools, and residents of the areas. In my paper I will discuss the reasons why violence in schools exists and what could or “should” be done about it.
- When parents begin to worry about their children at school, everyone should realize there is far too much violence at school. School violence is a big issue, and the problem seems to be getting worse every year.
- Teenage violence in schools has become a tremendous concern to many people. - Teen Christians have to deal with a lot of pressures like when at school, because when a Christian teen does talk about what they believe in they are mock or criticized. And when the fact that when a teen does believe in Jesus it causes them to lose friends so that causes teens to not want to be with god, or talk about it because of what there friends will think and do to them.
- Everywhere we look we see some sort of violence, if it’s not ourselves committing the violence, someone around us is. It is as though it never fails, on television it is not considered a “good” show unless there is some sort of shoot ‘em up seen on every show.

- The schools today are now set up as they have never been before. Schools are now set up so that the government mandates attendance. This means that school is no longer a privilege to attend but a mandatory thing instead. The problem with this is that it limits the effectiveness of discipline by the school administrators.

- These things provoke anger, temper, and crummy attitudes. Gross visuals and music dull sensitivities. They teach the wrong way to handle problems. Make no mistake about this. No matter what this girl or other defenders of this junk may say, violent movies, video games, and gross music have consequences that include more arguing, hitting, abuse, and other violent behavior; sometimes even killings like happened in Littleton.
- Gangs throughout inner cities among young people are not new to our culture. Youth gangs have been a major part of the urban cultural landscape since the late 19th century. In the more recent 20th century, however, gangs have taken on a different character and have moved from inner cities and closer to homes, in suburban areas (Bodinger-deUriarte, C.
- Violence in schools is a growing problem in the United States today. This effects not only the students, but also their families, the surrounding community and the nation as a whole. There could be many possible causes of students lashing out against their peers.
- Sports are an important part of our world. Take a look at any newspaper, listen to any radio, or watch TV for any length of time and there will surely be some sports information that is being passed along. The fact that sports figures get paid salaries that teachers can only dream about let?s us know where our priorities lie in this society.
- When schools first opened hundreds of years ago prayer was always enforced, and the Bible was the only book most schools had to read. Our first constitutional right states that we have the right to freedom of speech and freedom of religion, and as our right the government can not tell us when it is appropriate to pray.
