- Europe today is tied together within a common market which enables it to work simultaneously on issues that arise upon its borders. This has not always the case. The phenomenon of a joint union is a recent thing brought on in the post war 1950’s and is one of the greatest historical undertakings of the 20th century.
- A fully integrated European Union could be seen to have two possible outcomes.
- The question often asked is how to achieve a sense of community in the different member states with their different cultures. Is it even possible? How can the goal of feeling as an European be achieved? Should people give up their national pride? To make Europe ?

They lost the Eastern Front to the Russians and the Western front was slowly but surely being taken back by the allied forces, mainly the British and the Americans.
- In order to elaborate on the statement above, one has to become familiar with the process of European Integration; therefore I would first like to show a quick overview of the history of the EU. After the WWII it has become clear that the best possible way to reinstate Europe?s leading position in the global political and economic arena was through some form of mutual cooperation amongst the leading European nations.

- V THE ECONOMY A Overview In the 19th century, Britain had the world s leading economy: Its overseas trade thrived, its standard of living rose steadily, and its citizens pioneered industrial innovations. With the growth of the economies of other nations in the 20th century, the British economy remained relatively strong.
- British Parliament has four primary functions. These are representation, legitimisation, scrutinising and informing and legislative. Each of these are performed, by our parliament with a varying degree of success, and this essay is targeted at examining how well each of these functions are carried out.
