- THE GARDEN OF RAMA (Bantam, $20) by Arthur C. Clarke and Gentry Lee is the third in a series of novels that began in 1973 with Mr. Clarke’s “Rendezvous With Rama.” The original Rama was a massive cylindrical spaceship that blundered into our solar system and allowed itself to be searched by human explorers before blasting off again into interstellar space.
- In Oedipus the King, the main character that displays leadership in response to a situation is Oedipus. In this epic, Oedipus s leadership is greatly noted, especially in the beginning and into the middle. His leadership is greatly recognizable when he takes charge when the Chorus and the Priest ask for his help because of a plague in Thebes.

- Reading through Beowulf I began to compare it to the last great epic I read, Homer s The Odyssey. While The Odyssey and Beowulf are each examples of both historic and modern ideas of heroism, the acts of Beowulf s hero seem to fit better within its context.
