- A small family of four, living in the Tory town of Redding. Life was great Mr. and Mrs. Meeker owned a small tavern that supplies their town with food, rum, and supplies. Their son Timmy helped around the tavern and did chores, because his older brother Sam was off at college.
- My Brother Sam is Dead was written by James Lincoln Collier and Christopher Collier in 1974. The action takes place in Redding, Connecticut in 1776 during the Revolutionary War. In this novel, the main characters are the Meeker family: Life, Susannah, Tim, and Sam.
- Some of the major themes in this book were that Tim and his family has to survive through out this book. Another theme was to keep their store going and not to close it because that is where they make almost all of their money by selling those products.
- The piece of popular culture that I chose for this assignment is the book by James and Christopher Collier, My Brother Sam Is Dead. A brief description of the events that took place in the book follows. I took the religious aspects of the book and will relate them to several philosophers, which we have studied.

The reasons for this are numerous and can be demonstrated in different ways. Miller is able to give an example of this behavior through the actions of Willy Loman.
- The idea that any person can rise from humble beginnings to greatness is the basis of the American Dream. Arthur Miller paints a harsh picture of this ideal in the drama Death of a Salesman. The main character, Willy Loman, is a complex and tragic figure.

Every night on the news we hear murders, assassinations and bombings referred to as Atragedies.@ Tragedy need not be an event which affects the community at large. Rather, any event which teaches an important lesson to a specific person or a group of people can be viewed as a type of tragedy.
- Would you ever dare to disobey the law and risk your life for it just so you could do what you thought was right? In the play Antigone, the main character Antigone, had her actions rewarded by death. She had disobeyed the law made by Creon (the king) and therefore had to be punished.

If a tyrant’s, or a cruel dictator-like person’s, role is to diminish, he/she will not necessarily die, but his/her popularity will most definitely decline.
- There have been many recent debates about the costs of illegal immigration and the effects on American life. Illegal immigration, to the United States creates a large burden on our economic society, but no one knows how to eliminate this problem. President Clinton, in his presidential campaign, was asked what he was going to do about illegal immigration, Clinton replied by saying If you have an answer you can be my foreign policy adviser (Long 61).
- The day of Berkowitz’s arrest, Sergeant Joseph Coffey was called in to interview him. Calmly and candidly, David told him about each of the shootings. When the interview was over there was no doubt that Berkowitz was the Son of Sam. The details that he supplied about each assault were bits of information that only the killer would know.
