- The Dredd Scott case involved a landmark decision in the history of the Supreme Court, in the history ofthe United States the decision in this case was one of the most damaging statements in the history of theSupreme Court, involving the citizenship of a black person in the United States, and theconstitutionality of the Missouri Compromise in 1820.
- The Dred Scott case was the final blow to Abolitionists. It ended the notion of freedom for African Americans. What makes this case interesting is the role the justices play on the issue of slavery. In 1856, a slave, Dred Scott, sued his master, Doctor Emmerson.
