- In Ancient Greek times around 4BC, women were typically subordinated. An example of this treatment can be seen in the lives of women living in Athens. In contrast, a neighboring area, Sparta, illustrated a different way of life for their women. Sparta was located in the south-central portion of the Peloponnesian and was a more isolated culture.

- One of the greatest poets of the English language, John Keats, wrote a beautiful ode To Autumn. - The real, physical electron implied a real, physical atom: the particulate theory of matter was therefore justified for the first time convincingly by physical experiment.
- Adam Smith was the founder of economics, as we know it today. His thoughts have shaped modern ideas about the market economy and the role of the state in relation to it. Smith laid the intellectual framework that explained the free market (which still holds true today) and laissez-faire.
- I am doing my project on the history of the atom. The atom was not just thought up overnight it took thousands of years of research and experimenting, but was finally finalized bty Dalton. Dalton was curious about many things but most of all he wondered how substances combined.
- You know I have a hard time explaining things, so I will try to do this through writing instead of through talking. I?m not going to edit anything that I write because that way I will be able to express how I feel and not go back and say ?I shouldn?t have said that? or whatever.
- I would rather be Athenian. Too many simple reasons factor in on this decision. The Spartans were a much poorer society, and had less intellectual inventions- saying something about their education. All Athenian boys were expected to get a great education, while Athenian girls were taught such things as weaving and cooking.
- The purpose of my essay is to explain why the Atom Bomb was right. Little Boy was dropped on Hiroshima in August 6,1945. Fat man was dropped on Nagasaki in August 9,1945. The effect of the bombing was tremendous; it caused death to over 112, people. The Bombing also ended the war as soon as possible.
- With Socrates came a revolution in all manners of thought. As, perhaps, the most influential of philosophers, and also one of the best known, it is truly unfortunate he left the future so little of his theories. Only through the writings of his students have we any idea of his philosophy.
- PALO ALTO, CA–Gathering for what members of the international science community are calling “potentially the most totally out-to-lunch freaky head trip since Einstein postulated that space and time were, like, curved and shit,” a consortium of the world’s top physicists descended upon Stanford University Monday to discuss some of the difficult questions facing the cutting edge of theoretical thinking.
- The popularity of the show when it first aired “almost single-handedly brought NBC out of its third place slump in the ratings and was one of the network’s biggest successes ever.
- It’s Friday night and you have nothing to do. You’re putting your schoolbooks away and you notice a flyer that you received earlier today. It says: “Spectacular Laser Light Show…Dance ALL night long to the newest trance songs in the industry.” You decide to check it out and after asking a few people of the location of this dance party you find yourself in front of an abandoned warehouse.

Countless scientists worked relentlessly on the project and their efforts opened the door for present and future exploration of the atom.Just before the beginning of World War II, Albert Einstein wrote a letter to President Franklin D.
- Adam Smith is considered by many to be the father of modern economics. He is best known for his groundbreaking book, An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of Wealth of Nations, published in 1776. - What is love? So many people wonder, yet few really know. Love is blind, but if you are fortunate to find true love, you should cherish it and never let it go under appreciated because love is ever changing. In the short story Early Autumn by Langston Hughes, this ever-changing cycle of love is evident.
- I’ve tried to keep quiet, but I just can’t hold it in any longer. I have to tell everyone that I will not bow to coercion, intimidation, or the threat of violence. But first, I’m going to jump ahead a bit and talk in general terms about how I, hardheaded cynic that I am, have had enough of Plato the Athenian’s waste, fraud, misfeasance, and malfeasance.
- Whoever had the crazy idea of dyeing Miss Tierney’s hair blonde? Had the world gone mad? Whatever the reason, playing the part of an Italian village girl with platinum blonde hair can have done little to further Gene’s career, especially since she does not even attempt an Italian accent, and limits herself to mechanically following a dreadful script which does not allow her to develop into any kind of believable character at all.
- The modern atomic theory we have today came from contributions of many different scientists. Democritus, Dalton, Thompson, Millikan and Rutherford all had their specific contributions to the development of the Atomic theory we have come to know today.
- When Adolf Hitler began his rise to power in the early 1930’s, he also began his persecution of the Jews. As a result of his policies, many scientists left Europe for the safety of the United States. This intellectual tide was taking place when scientists on either side of the Atlantic were discovering the secrets of the atom.
