- “But for the sake of some little mouthful of flesh, we deprive a soul of the sun and light, and of that proportion of life and time that they had been born to enjoy.”(Plutarch). Each year, over five billion animals are consumed by Americans, yet still most people sit and eat their hamburgers without even thinking where they come from.
- The problem with testing drugs on animals every year is nearly 100 million animals die in research laboratories at the hands of curious scientists who perform outdated and inaccurate tests that prove no benefit to humans or animals. Before these animals die, they are routinely burned, scalded, poisoned, starved, given electric shocks, addicted to drugs, subjected to near freezing temperatures, dosed with radioactive elements, driven insane, deliberately inflicted with diseases such as cancer, diabetes, oral infections, stomach ulcers, Syphilis, herpes, and AIDS.
- The rights of animals have long been a highly controversial issue. Humans have always seen themselves as being superior to animals, and as having the right to exploit animals in any way they choose, even to use them as subjects in often very cruel experiments in the progress of Medicine and Science.
- It?s not a new thing. For many centuries scientists and testers in research have used animals of all kinds. Most of the animals are small ones like rodents – rats, mice, hamsters and gerbils. Some dogs, cats and a variety of goats, monkeys and rabbits have also been used.
- Animal Farm, by George Orwell, is a science fiction story based on the Russian Revolution, where instead of humans, the animals are the main characters. The story is predominantly about how power can overcome people who don t know how to use it correctly and from that, in almost any situation comes a revolution or as it was stated in Animal Farm a rebellion.
- Why is a practice responsible for so many billion innocent lives still in affect in America today despite its many negative aspects? Animal experimentation, formerly known by the Greek word vivisection, referred to the dissection of living animals for experimental purposes.
- The movie begins with the introduction of mister Jones; a farmer who over -works his livestock with little compensation toward their part. This aspect reflects dictatorship; the overseeing government has total control over the society within the nation.
- Such enthusiasm may do them in, as COK’s often divisive rhetoric and tacit endorsement of vandalism threaten to alienate the very people it needs to reach in order to be successful.
- Animal rights activists planned two separate protests in conjunction with the May 20-22 Fur Fashion Week designer shows, but neither was effective in making the news media take their eyes off the fashions and pay attention to increasingly bizarre and desperate extremist stunts.
- What characterizes the animal rights movement as many hands on many oars? The best example I can think of that would characterize the animal rights movement as many hands on many oars? is portrayed by the list found at the web page address: http://arrs.
- There are many different categories that fall under the term Animal Rights , but this essay will only discuss a few. Although all of the issues having to do with animal rights are equally important, the ones discussed in this essay are the major ones.
- They say give animals the rights they deserve The truth is if we give animals rights, we will be putting them on the same level as the human race I know that I do not want to be on the same level as a rat Animals should not have rights!
- Holly Anderson was a strong supporter for animal rights. When she was a little girl, she saw a cat get run over by a car. As she watched it die slowly, some young boys were poking it with a stick. She screamed, “Why don’t you leave that poor cat alone!” One boy replied, “We wanted to see if maggots will come out of its nose! Hey Jimmy!” the boy yelled at his friend, “Go get your firecrackers!” Holly started crying and ran away.
- Human health will not improve without animal experimentation. There is of course two sides to this issue. Worldwide, animals are used in numerous experiments which inflict pain and suffering to the animal.

- There are three very important reasons why animals should not be used for testing harmful or dangerous materials. One of these is that testing and its use is trivial in the cosmetic industry. The second reason is that animals have rights and animals can feel pleasure and pain just as humans do.
- Can t you just picture it? Our founding fathers, sitting side by side, along a massive oak table, arguing over the rights American citizens should have. And finally they come upon an agreement, and that agreement was that all men are created equal. But didn t they forget about something, or someone? Are only human beings allowed the right for freedom, liberty and justice? I think not! Our neglect for animals and their rights as human beings is deplorable, and I believe respect for animals, as human beings is vital.
- Non-human animals are given rights only because of their interactions with human beings. Without involvement with humans, animals do not deserve rights. It is through this interaction with humans that animals are even given moral consideration. We do not give rights to a rock simply because it is a creation of Mother Nature, similarly non-human animals do not have rights unless it is in regards to humans.
- When someone mentions animal rights what comes to mind? My mind flashes back to a print ad a couple of years ago with half-a-dozen naked models holding up a sign saying We d rather be naked then wear fur! I was very happy to support their cause to stop people from wearing fur as a fashion statement.
